Frente Al Mar - Ximena Sariñana (lyrics)

Ardo en soledad
canto que dar
la falta de saber en dónde estas.

Me cuesta esconder
tu parte de mi piel
frente al mar
tomo tu lugar
frente al mar
tomo tu lugar.

Contra corrientes
mareas y sal
no sabrás lo mucho que dolerá
dolerá

La farsa de volver
es el codepender
frente al mar
tomo tu lugar
frente al mar
tomo tu lugar.

Uuu uuu uuuu uuuu.

Monsters - Hurricane Bells (Official MV)

hurricanebells1

Released recently is the music video for Hurricane Bells' "Monsters," a song which was featured on the official soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

Unlike some of the other New Moon contributors' videos, there is no tie-in to the film (i.e., clips of the movie), but it is interesting to see the director's vision for the song as compared with the song's placement in the film.

Steve Schiltz, frontman for the band, had this to say about being on the New Moon soundtrack. "The track was a little too heavy and I left it off the record, it was like a bonus track. Back in July, I gave it to my publishers and when they told me it has been taken for the movie I was like wow and then it changed everything."

He noted that the biggest change, so far, has been his financial capacity to make more music. "It just happened and this was the biggest thing but it just got me the money to make more music and didn't make a major impact on my music. All it really means is I am getting enough time and money to make another record."

OK Go are Team Edward

Saturday, January 16, 2010

"I have to admit, I still haven’t seen Twilight, but I did enjoy New Moon. It was an entertaining watch for sure, and I can see why it appeals to kids of all ages. I think if I were to pick, I’m probably Team Edward, if I had to really choose. I find Jacob to be a little bit whiny (and I’m not speaking of Taylor Lautner as a person, I’m just talking about his character). There’s just something about Jacob’s neediness that I just find somewhat annoying. Edward sort of seems to have his shit together a little more, or at least he plays it much cooler than Jacob. I sort of respect him for that. Plus, I think vampires are a little bit cooler than werewolves."

New Moon OST, Top Ten Movie Soundtracks of 2009

Drake Lelane. Film.com

Any year that features films from music-oriented directors Wes Anderson and Quentin Tarantino is going to be a good year for soundtracks. Many of the films' soundtracks this year were highly anticipated, with indie rock star power attached early on to films likeThe Twilight Saga: New Moon (Thom Yorke, Grizzly Bear, Bon Iver) and Where the Wild Things Are (Karen O. of Yeah Yeah Yeahs), but not all delivered on that promise when the visuals were married in the final product.
The commonality of most of the soundtracks on this list is nostalgia, whether it be for old cinema classics or for our own childhood. It's a tricky business, tickling that ache for the past, but for the films below business is mostly good. (As an added bonus, several of the entries below have "reassembled" playlists incorporating all the songs used in the film -- enjoy!)
10. The Twilight Saga: New Moon
New Moon makes this list almost purely because of the inclusion of new material from the likes of Grizzly Bear ("Slow Life"), Thom Yorke ("Hearing Damage"), and pairing Bon Iver with St. Vincent ("Roslyn"). Whether it's the best music for Taylor Lautner to remove his shirt to is probably up for debate.
